Marion Adeney-Steel, Principal Physiotherapist, is a highly qualified clinician with over 35 years’ experience in physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Her specialty is rehabilitation, but she also has a keen interest in chronic disease management and optimising physical function through the life span. Marion is passionate about hydro and believes there are endless indications for its use Outside work you are likely to find Marion on a plane travelling somewhere exciting or manufacturing the next trip.
Heidi Gunes is an experienced senior physiotherapist who has worked in a variety of public and private settings in many areas of Physiotherapy. Her special interests and postgraduate qualifications include: Complex Pain, Sports Rehab, Neurology, PhysioYoga and Hydrotherapy. In her spare time Heidi loves scuba diving and escaping to nature with loved ones.
Heidi is fluent in Turkish.
Irene Strouzas is an experienced senior physiotherapist with experience in the private practice, community health and sporting fields. Special interests include musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. She is also currently the physiotherapist for a State League Victorian soccer team. Outside of work Irene enjoys keeping fit through running as well as balancing this out with a good Netflix binge.
Irene is fluent in Greek.
Jared Leong is an experienced physiotherapist with over 10 years of clinical practice, specialising in aged care and rehabilitation. He has worked extensively with individuals affected by neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, PSP, Huntington’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain; with a focus on pain management, strength and conditioning, and promoting independence in older adults.
Tamara van Giessel is our Allied Health Assistant, who has a background in Disability Support and Adult Education. Tamara enjoys supporting our physiotherapists in clinic and assisting with reception duties. In her spare time, Tamara loves to keep active by training in aerial sports and dance. Tamara is also mum to two teenage children.
Rita Qat is our friendly Wellness Centre receptionist who manages appointments and invoices and generally keeps the rest of us in order. Rita comes from an accounting background and has extensive experience in customer service. She is an animal lover and spends her time outside work wrangling three children.
Rita is fluent in Arabic and Circassian.

Shockwave therapy is an effective, non-surgical treatment for painful disorders. It is a multidisciplinary device used across a range of disciplines and its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. As a non-surgical therapy, shockwave is an ideal form of treatment to speed up recovery and target various indications causing acute or chronic pain. Indications such as jumper’s knee, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and trigger points can benefit from shockwave therapy.
Across both of our wellness centres, AHP Connect accepts most major health funds and payment types, including Medibank, Bupa, and HBF. The amount you can use on private health and additional rebates such as CTP Insurance Scheme and Work Cover are different for each service.
We advise participants to wear pool-suitable clothing – this an include swim wear or gym wear. Heavy fabrics such as cotton t-shirts absorb water and become heavy, lighter weight polyesters tend not to absorb so much water. Boardshorts and a rashie are easily found and suitable for the pool.
In addition to pool-suitable clothing, please bring a water bottle, towel, and rubber thongs.
Both hydrotherapy pools used at Rathdowne Place and Racecourse Grange are heated to a comfortable 34-degrees Celsius, year-round.
This temperature has been chosen as it is a “thermo-neutral” temperature. This means that most people keep the same core temperature when immersed in water of 34 degrees. This is ideal for low intensity exercise over short periods of higher intensity exercise.
