Shockwave therapy is an effective, non-surgical treatment for painful disorders. It is a multidisciplinary device used across a range of disciplines and its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. As a non-surgical therapy, shockwave is an ideal form of treatment to speed up recovery and target various indications causing acute or chronic pain. Indications such as jumper’s knee, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and trigger points can benefit from shockwave therapy.
Across both of our wellness centres, AHP Connect accepts most major health funds and payment types, including Medibank, Bupa, and HBF. The amount you can use on private health and additional rebates such as CTP Insurance Scheme and Work Cover are different for each service.
We advise participants to wear pool-suitable clothing – this an include swim wear or gym wear. Heavy fabrics such as cotton t-shirts absorb water and become heavy, lighter weight polyesters tend not to absorb so much water. Boardshorts and a rashie are easily found and suitable for the pool.
In addition to pool-suitable clothing, please bring a water bottle, towel, and rubber thongs.
Both hydrotherapy pools used at Rathdowne Place and Racecourse Grange are heated to a comfortable 34-degrees Celsius, year-round.
This temperature has been chosen as it is a “thermo-neutral” temperature. This means that most people keep the same core temperature when immersed in water of 34 degrees. This is ideal for low intensity exercise over short periods of higher intensity exercise.
Our team of highly trained podiatrists can prescribe custom-made orthotics and shoe inserts to assist with a range of conditions including hip pain, Achilles tendinopathy, biomechanical faults, and improve foot function.
Occupational therapy focuses on enabling people to participate in daily activities. It helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems.
There are a wide range of reasons why a person may benefit from occupational therapy including assistance to adjust to life after sustaining an injury, acquiring a short- or long-term illness or disability, or experiencing a major life adjustment that is impacting health and wellbeing.
Your regular GP can help you decide whether an OT may help you, and can provide a referral.
Generally, the recommendation for those who have been injured is to start rehab with range-of-moth exercises around 72 hours after injury. The rehabilitation period can continue for a period of up to several weeks or months.

Yes, your feet can contribute to lower back pain. The pronation of your feet and ankles may cause your knees to turn inward. This can impact your hips which will affect the way you walk. If not correct, this may affect your spin, in-turn leading to lower back pain.
